In the beginning...
First conceived in 2004, Venti Energy began as an investment interest by a group of Danish entrepreneurs looking for opportunities in the renewable energy space. Holding both investments and experience within the wind industry in Denmark, the worldwide leader in wind energy technologies and supply, the group launched Venti Energy in 2006 after investigating the U.S. renewable energy market.
Demonstrating a natural aptitude for harnessing the wind, Denmark has long been recognized as the global leader in wind energy. According to the Danish Wind Industry Association, the country currently generates 20% of its energy consumption from wind; and by the year 2025, over half of its energy supply is expected to be harvested from this source.
With minimal effects to the surrounding areas, wind turbines not only harness an abundant source of energy but actually deliver 80 times more power than is used in its production, maintenance and scrapping. Turbines not only displace atmospheric smog, acid rain and greenhouse gas emissions, but have the lowest production cost of any renewable energy source.
Prior to the company’s conception, Lars Christensen, a primary investor, entered the Danish wind market in 2001. With the purchase of five small wind turbines, Christensen leveraged his ability to further invest in re-powering projects. He continued with the purchase of two Vestas V52 turbines rated at 850kW located in the northern landscape of Jutland, Denmark. Vestas Wind Systems A/S, a Danish wind technology manufacturer and distributor, is considered to be one of the driving forces in the industry’s development.
