A Case for Renewables
Increasing its domain within the U.S. energy market, renewable energy offers a viable solution to a depleting fossil fuel crisis. In facing such issues as global dimming and climate change, the need for change in the manner we generate and consume energy is unprecedented.
Q: What are renewables? A: Unlike traditional methods of energy generation, renewables offer an eco-friendly and abundant solution. There are currently five segments of renewable energy: solar power, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydro-electric.
Q: What’s the benefit found in renewable energy? A: Because renewable energy is generated from clean, replenishing sources, its value is threefold: environmental benefits, economic impact/growth and energy independence. Overall, renewable energy promotes a healthy earth for future generations.
Q: Why are renewables necessary? A: Fossil fuels are finite sources, meaning they are not regenerated nor will they be forever available. Such resources include oil, natural gas and coal. The U.S. currently consumes 86 percent of its energy from such sources. As a result, alternative resources must be explored and exploited if we truly desire to strengthen U.S. energy independence and seek to provide a sustainable future for the next generation.
